Mistletoe

It was holiday season but she had to stay there for two more days. My job! She sighed. Through the window, nothing she did see but white. Neither ribbons nor the lights, as if the city forgot it’s Christmas. A new country, she couldn’t judge but sleep. Making a early wake up call to her family, she opened the shades. It’s Christmas, she wished to shout into the nothingness. She sensed a light, a dim glow between the trees. Wearing her blazers, for a discovery she paced. At a distance, was a tree, alone glittering of Christmas ornaments. She smelled canapés, mulled wine and cinnamon sticks nearby. Searching for the host, watchful on the footprints, she found herself trailing to her door. Holding a mistletoe ball, she found him smiling at her. A gift, she never dreamt for today but ever.
